"You can write the blog", I was told on more than one occasion, I was at a loss to why exactly, but thought I would start at the beginning.............
"You can write the blog" I was told on many occasions, not having read to many of them I was at a loss to know what to write or what I wanted to say. Another thing occured to me, why did it have to be me? Could it be the fact that I have been in the bridal world for 25 years? Was it that I have dressed girls from all corners of the globe, mostly Somerset brides, Devon Brides, Bath brides and over the past 10 years in Bristol and Clifton brides? Maybe it was my experience in my early career designing and making bridal gowns? Or because I have had the honour of working with some of the most eminent bridal dress designers in the industry? What ever the reason I can figure that out later.....

I then pondered on those who had pointed the task in my direction, the first being one of the best designers in the industry who I have known for twenty or so years and whom I have tremendous respect for, the second was my business partner Sarah, some one else I have a vat of respect for. If they saw something then it was surely worth a go.....

I'll admit I did sneak a peak at another blog or two, some informative, others punchy, so concluded that there where no rules, just opinions, so after 25 years of styling, fitting and sewing, lets see what blogging is like, I'm going to start at the beginning......

"If there had been a book on how to open a bridal shop, Sarah and I would have surely purchased it at the begining, however as our journey progresses we have not hit that many hitches. With our collective experience of thirty five years we have armed ourselves with lots of information, knowleadge and points of reference. We collected a mood board with ease, telepathic email paths of suggestions, helping it all fall into place and the vibe of chic, clear, chrome and crystal fell into place with a muted white colourway and a dash of blue to sharpen the look.
The first choice of designers was a given, other than the fact that they are two of the most prestigious and award winning greats of British bridal design they both also epitomised the way we wanted to shape the our brand. We both agreed from the start that we wanted to work with real designers, not bridal manufacturers, designing and making within the UK.

We then set about the process of painting, carpeting and fitting out the studio, which proved no more difficult than a domestic refurb and with a little help from friends and family was completed in no time at all. The hardest part was our name, what do we call ourselves, and whilst references to White or Ivory can conjure up references to wedding gowns, and more obviously names with bride or wedding have an imidiate association we wanted to say more about ourselves. A name that connects us emotionally and sets the right tone so we arrived at Olivia Hooper, a fushion of two feminine influences within our lives.

All of this was achieved within a few short weeks, which we took within our stride, we have always been movers and shakers, making the impossible, possible, and making dreams a reality. It was hard work but amazing fun too and is one of the most exciting things that can happen, and even better we do believe the best is yet to come........
